Food for the Soul
Local church congregations and other organizations bring a home-cooked meal to students each week at Food for the Soul. Time together generally opens with prayer and ends with discussion and fellowship.
Tuesdays, 5:30 PM, Dirlam Lounge
Fall and Spring Retreats
Every fall and spring semester, RLC plans a weekend retreat for students. These retreats are designed to provide relaxation and spiritual restoration. Retreats are a great balance of fellowship and devotional activities aimed at helping students take a deep breath and get away from the 'hustle & bustle' of school. Wesley Woods Camp and Wild Wood Hills Ranch are two examples of places the retreats have visited.
Fall Retreat: September 2-3, Wesley Woods
Alternative Friday Nights
Go swing dancing, watch a movie, or join in a game of sardines. The first and third Fridays of every month RLC hosts an alternative Friday night activity. Check your email for specifics!
Cornerstone
The cornerstone program serves first-year students by providing fellowship as well as a space to discuss the transition to college and spiritual life. Group leaders can also help first years get involved in RLC and campus activities. All first-year students are welcome to join at any time.
Tuesdays, 9:00 PM, Dirlam Lounge
After Hours
Spend some time together in fellowship. After hours is a time for fellowship after Campus Worship on Wednesday nights in Dirlam Lounge. Activities and food are provided by organizations from around campus for a relaxing and fun evening.
Check out the Events Calendar to see where and when it all can fit into your schedule!
Carrie Wubben: Chapel Intern of Welcome and Celebration
Hey all! My name is Carrie Wubben. Unfortunately I'll be a senior this year, majoring in Religion with minors in chemistry and biology. I love Simpson College and don't want to graduate (I'd like to let you know that "senior" and "graduation" are four-letter words in my book until May!). I'm addicted to freeze pops and Twitter and I love life! Here in the Religious Life Community, I'm the intern of Welcome and Celebration. It's my job to make sure that every student, faculty member and staff personnel feels welcome in the chapel and at chapel-sponsored events. I urge you to come check us out in Smith Chapel and hang out! I'm also in charge of planning Alternative Friday Nights, so if there's something cool on the radar, let me know!
