The Reverend Angela Gafford Asmus
Reverend Angela Gafford Asmus is an ordained elder in The United Methodist Church. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and French from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and a Master of Divinity Degree from Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. Rev. Gafford Asmus has completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from the University of North Carolina Medical Center. Rev. Gafford Asmus has served local churches in Texas, England, and North Carolina in rural, suburban, and town settings.
Rev. Gafford Asmus serves the church and the college as Chaplain and Director of Religious Life Community. She oversees the Simpson College Religious Life Community and student chaplains. Rev. Gafford Asmus is a mentor for the Candidacy program in the United Methodist Church and offers support and counsel to students, faculty and staff. Rev. Gafford Asmus works with students to develop ministries that celebrate and include all faiths, encouraging open and compassionate dialogue. Rev. Gafford Asmus teaches two Cornerstone Courses; Women in Religion in America, and Senior Colloquium: Lives of Committment.
Rev. Gafford Asmus's particular ministry interests include preaching, worship and conflict mediation. She has received conflict transformation training from the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center and the Just Peace organization of the UMC. Rev. Gafford Asmus enjoys traveling, dining and laughing with good friends.
