Reverend Fritz Wehrenberg
Interim Campus Chaplain 2009-2010
What is a Fritz Wehrenberg?
A mysterious, imaginative concoction God jammed together, bathed in grace; serving as the Interim Simpson College Chaplain, 2009-10
A Fritz Wehrenberg has been found graduating from Valparaiso University and Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago and even spotted studying for a doctorate in ministry at Luther Seminary. He has been baked in the oven of experience for 34 years (we are hoping he’s not too overdone): serving congregations in St. Charles, Missouri, Berlin, Germany, and Darien, Illinois. There were two interims in the Chicago area as well. The last ten years have been on college campuses: Iowa State and a 2 year intentional interim at Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Lest you think this all work and no play, you might well find yourself eating a gourmet meal well served, at his hand . . . or a deft hand of cards (bridge is most favored, but any card game) played as partner or opponent . . . or round of golf in the mid-eighties shot, not too intensely . . . or an invite to solve the problems of the world and the riddles of heaven over a cup of tea or coffee. A Fritz Wehrenberg is known to walk into cinemas for all sorts of movies and especially enjoys live theater.
It is reported that a Fritz Wehrenberg finds Simpson College to be warm, welcoming and wondrous. In such experience is the realm of heaven made present; he hopes to extend that experience with you!

Jeremy Poland
Interim Assistant Campus Chaplain 2009-2010
What you probably haven’t heard is true: Jeremy Poland is back on campus. After a five-year hiatus, Mr. Poland makes his dramatic return, the magnitude and intensity of which befit his newly-implemented, wonder-inspiring title: Interim Assistant Chaplain of Simpson College.
Since graduation in 2004, Jeremy snuck off to New Jersey, where he spent three allegedly unsuccessful years trying to find Tony Soprano’s house. Meanwhile, he ended up with a piece of paper, issued by Drew Theological School that says he’s a “Master of Divinity.” He thinks this sounds (and this is a quotation) “cool,” which should clue you in as to what sort of a person he is. Suspiciously, he also found an amazingly smart, caring, and beautiful woman who actually liked him enough to leave New Jersey for Iowa and marry him. No one understands how this happened, but many see it as evidence that miracles do happen.
His most recent years have been spent at Aldersgate United Methodist church, as their Dictator of Youth and Discipleship. Thus far, Jeremy is exceedingly pleased to be back at Simpson, and that isn’t even including a consideration of the reversal in check-writing. He loves the energy and inquisitiveness of college students, and can’t wait to serve with them in ministry.
