Angela Gafford Asmus - Instructor of Religion

Angela Gafford Asmus oversees the Simpson College  Religious Life Community and student chaplains. She is a mentor for the Candidacy program in the United Methodist Church and offers support and counsel to students, faculty and staff. Gafford Asmus works with students to develop ministries that celebrate and include all faiths, encouraging open and compassionate dialogue.  She teaches two Cornerstone Courses; Women in Religion in America, and Senior Colloquium: Lives of Commitment.

Gafford Asmus is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. She completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from the University of North Carolina Medical Center and has served local churches in Texas, England, and North Carolina in rural, suburban, and town settings.  Her particular ministry interests include preaching, worship and conflict mediation. She has received conflict transformation training from the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center and the Just Peace organization of the UMC.
