Student Profiles - Evan

One can easily see why this Vocal Music Education major is remorseful about graduating soon. "I just wish I was coming in as a freshman so I could experience everything all over again."

While it's not unusual for a student to live on a college campus, Evan has taken it one step further and truly found a home away from home.

"My Simpson Experience is unique because I have experienced everything from the best day of my life to the worst. I lost my father last November. After that life changing experience, I returned to campus to find that everyone - professors, students and staff were supportive and caring and wanted me to feel at home."

Being involved in campus life has been at the core of Evan's experience. In addition to being in choir and other ensembles, he is a member and student chaplain of his fraternity and serves as president of the Campus Activities Board. He is also the Senior Class President, member of the spirit club- Stormchasers, a student ambassador and a recording consultant for the music department. He even announces the men's and women's basketball games.

Now, in his last semester, Evan is preparing for his future. While he spends most of his time student teaching, he plans to attend graduate school, pursue a PhD and become a president or chancellor of a college.

"I chose Simpson because I knew it had an outstanding music program. When I got here, I discovered so much more- things you can't describe in any brochure. It has really impacted my life and I plan to make a career in higher education."
