Political Science at Simpson offers students the opportunity to explore real world politics: local, national, and global. Our students don't just study politics; they experience it. From running a campus political survey to playing a role in the Model United Nations, from interning at the state capitol to living and working in Washington D.C., our major gives you the knowledge, writing and communication skills, and experiences to succeed in a variety of professions.

Political Science students' experiences include:

  • Interning in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House
  • Working for national networks and papers
  • Running state legislative campaigns in Iowa
  • Working for local campaign consulting firms
  • Clerking for members of the Iowa Assembly
  • Working for 2008 presidential candidates

"For me, teaching at Simpson is ideal. I am active in political science, but my first priority is teaching and mentoring individual students. Students in Political Science participate in work, service, and innovative projects to inform and engage the community, and they grow into connected and responsible citizens."
