May Term

Simpson students in Washington DC

The three-week May Term is a change of pace from the regular semester that gives students the chance to explore an interest in an innovative May Term course.  Our department offers a variety of domestic and international travel opportunities for our students.

Recent May Term experiences include:

Brazil: Politics of a New Democracy
Visit Brasilia, Maceio, and Rio de Janeiro to meet with politicians and party officials and learn about the rich history and culture of this rising world power. You will come away with a new appreciation for the challenges and success of Brazil's transition to democratic government.

Exploring Politics in Washington, D.C.
Immerse yourself in the life of a political junkie as you meet your elected officials, attend public lectures, see the historic sights of our nation's capital, and watch legislative debates in real time. You'll also meet students in our CHIP (Washington internship) program, as well as Simpson alumni now living and working on "the Hill."

Simpson Survey 2008
Hone your skills in working with numbers and experience the work of a political pollster as you design, distribute, and analyze the findings from a comprehensive campus survey of students and professors. Students help write a survey report that is published online each election year.
