***IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ***

  • Students must complete all entrance and admission requirements to be considered for acceptance to the ATEP.
  • Students who are non-compliant with admission requirements will not be considered for acceptance.
  • Students who aspire to become cerified athletic trainers, regardless of setting, will have precedence.
  • The Athletic Training Education Program adheres to the guidelines of nondiscrimination mandated by Simpson College (see general catalog, page 1).

Probationary status/disqualification:

The Athletic Training Education Program recognizes the same policies and proceedures for academic probation as the college (see general catalog).

In addition, students who fail to demonstrate professional behavior, conduct unbecoming of an athletic trainer or fail to make progress towards their clinical experiences will be placed on probation for one semester.  This decision is made by the certified athletic training staff.  The student will continue to perform clinical esperience duties, however work-study allocations will be frozen.  If the student performs up to the standards of the Simpson College Athletic Training Education Program, they will be readmitted to the program by the Program Director.

Appeals process:

Students must provide in writing why they are appealing the decision of the selection committee.  Appeals will be reviewed by the department head, Academic Dean, and the Program Director where a final decision will be made.
