Cartoonist Brian Duffy speaks

Award-winning cartoonist Brian Duffy will speak at Simpson College Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in Great Hall.
The talk, which is sponsored by the Iowa History Center at Simpson, is titled, “How to Escape Being the Canary in the Coal Mine.”
Duffy has worked as an illustrator and cartoonist for more than 30 years. Duffy has earned two Best of Gannett awards and two World Hunger Media awards, and he was a finalist in editorial cartooning for the John Fischetti Award. For more than 20 decades, his worked graced the cover of the Des Moines Register.
In addition, Duffy has published two books entitled “A Decade of Duffy” and “More of Duffy.” Duffy’s work can be seen locally through Cityview, nationally in King Features Syndicate and on his Web site.
