Simpson performs opera by Mozart

Simpson College presents the fall opera production “The Marriage of Figaro” Oct. 16-18.

Composed by Wolfgang Mozart, this comic opera is a continuation of the plot of “The Barber of Seville,” and recounts a “day of madness” in the palace of the Count Almaviva near Seville, Spain.

The conquest of love, mistaken identity, and humiliation take part within the piece. Originally composed in Italian, the student cast and chorus will be performing the piece in English under the direction of Cara Chowning.

The opera will be performed on Oct. 16 and Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held in Barnum Studio Theatre in the Blank Performing Arts Center.
