Poets and Writers Series presents Kenny Cook

Kenny Cook will be reading and discussing some of his recent work as part of Simpson’s Poets and Writers Series Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in Jordan Lecture Hall.

Cook’s stories and essays have been published in many magazines, journals and newspapers. He has written two books: The Girl from Charnelle and Last Call. Both books explore the relationships between the members of a West Texan family. Last Call won the inaugural Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Fiction.

Cook teaches creative writing and literature at Prescott College, in Prescott, Ariz. and is also a member of the faculty at Spalding University in Louisville, Ky.

The Poets and Writers Series is sponsored by the English department. The goal of the series is to bring at least one author or poet to campus each semester.

The event is free and open to the public.
