Panel features prominent female leaders

March 27, 2008

Simpson College will host some of Iowa’s most prominent female leaders as part of the college’s Women’s History Month celebration.

Four women will participate in “Navigating the Labyrinth: Women and Leadership” March 27 at 3:30 p.m. in the Matthew Simpson Room in College Hall.

The event is a panel discussion about the women’s professional and personal journeys to being recognized as leaders in their fields. The women will also discuss their own leadership styles, talk about obstacles that challenged their leadership abilities and offer advice to audience members.

Panel members are:

  • Karen Grode, CEO, Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa
  • Shannon Cofield, president, United Way of Central Iowa
  • Deanna Strable-Soethout, senior vice president, Principal Financial Group
  • Debra Moore, executive officer, Iowa Attorney General’s Office

The discussion will be moderated by Nancy Byrd, regional advisor for human resources at Fifth Third Bank and wife of Simpson College President John Byrd. An informal reception will follow at 4:30 p.m. in the Matthew Simpson Room in College Hall.
