Simpson To Travel To UW-Whitewater For Sweet 16

The NCAA has awarded UW-Whitewater the right to host the next two rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament March 14-15 in Whitewater, Wis. Simpson (27-2) will be playing Whitewater (26-3) Friday night at 8 p.m.

Here is the tournament schedule:

Friday, March 14, Kachel Gymnasium, Whitewater, Wis.

  • No. 6 DePauw (27-3) vs No. 14 Amherst (27-2) 6 p.m.
  • No. 9/10 Simpson (27-2) vs No. 8/9 UW-Whitewater (26-3)  8 p.m.

Saturday, March 15, Kachel Gymnasium, Whitewater, Wis.

  • Friday's Winners 7 p.m.

This is the eighth time that Simpson has qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament. The Storm is making its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and are making their second consecutive Sweet 16 showing. Simpson is 7-7 in NCAA Tournament games.

ABOUT UW-WHITEWATER: UW-Whitewater is No. 8 in the d3hoops.com top 25 poll and No. 9 in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll poll. The Warhakws traveled to Illinois Wesleyan for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament where Whitewater defeated Manchester 77-60 and the host Titans 87-63. Illinois Wesleyan was ranked seventh in the d3hoops.com poll and No. 8 in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Warhawks are making their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance and their first since 1995. Whitewater is 10-7 in NCAA Tournament play

ABOUT AMHERST: Located in Amherst, Mass., the Lady Jeffs are ranked 14th in both the d3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 Coaches Polls. Amherst traveled to Bridgewater State for its first two NCAA Tournament games and came away with victories over Becker (78-32) and Bowdoin (61-60. The Lady Jeffs are appearing in their first NCAA Tournament this season.

ABOUT DEPAUW: DePauw are the defending NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Champions. Ranked sixth in both the d3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 Coaches Polls, the Tigers hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. DePauw defeated Denison 70-53 in round one. In a rematch of last season's national championship game, the Tigers defeated Washington (Mo.) 73-66 last Saturday night.

Located in Greencastle, Ind., this is ninth time DePauw has qualified for the NCAA Tournament. They 17-7 in tournament games.
