Metro Opera season begins at Simpson

The Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO) will kick off its 37th season June 19 in the Blank Performing Arts Center at Simpson College.
The season, which runs through July 12, will feature three productions: “Tosca,” “Der Freischutz” and “The Barber of Seville.”
Simpson Professor of Music Robert Larsen, who has been a member of the college’s faculty for more than 50 years, founded DMMO and serves as its artistic director. Under Larsen’s direction, DMMO has come to be regarded as one of the top summer opera companies in the world.
