Simpson honors outstanding alumni
June 26, 2008
Simpson College will honor six of the college’s outstanding alumni during Alumni Weekend June 26-27. The awards will be given during the Alumni Recognition Luncheon June 26 at 11 a.m. in Great Hall.
The following awards will be given:
- Alumni Achievement Award: Sam “Chic” Born ’67. Born is a civil mediator with The Mediation Group, LLC. He has been recognized numerous times as one of Indiana’s leading lawyers.
- Alumni Achievement Award: John Norris ’81. President Barack Obama recently nominated Norris for a commissioner’s seat on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Currently, he serves as chief of staff for Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.
- Alumni Loyalty Award: Debra Moore ’81. Moore, executive officer with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, has served has the president of the Alumni Associate and as a member of the board of trustees.
- Humanitarian Service Award: Dorothy Hodges Kennett ’59. Kennett founded Books for South Africa, a nonprofit organization that helps provide library access to children and young adults in rural South Africa.
- Recent Alumni Loyalty Award: Dan Saar ’05. Saar is a law clerk for Judge Anuradha Vaitheswaran of the Iowa Court of Appeals. He has served Simpson as chapter advisor for the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
- Recent Alumni Achievement Award: Andy Priestley ’00. Priestley is co-founder of DWebware and Camp Marketing Services.
