Shelley Scott O’Meara, former Simpson coach and instructor, died Monday, June 16, 2008.
O’Meara came to Simpson as an instructor in physical education and coached softball from 1985-1995 and volleyball from 1985-1998.
She was the winningest coach in the history of the volleyball program, leading the squad to six Iowa Conference championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances. The Simpson softball team appeared in six NCAA Tournaments and won two Iowa Conference championships under her leadership.
She was inducted into the Simpson College Coaches Hall of Fame in 2000.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in Lincoln, Nebraska.
