The Simpson College women’s basketball team will “Think Pink” during their game against Wartburg College Saturday afternoon in Indianola.
The Storm will be wearing pink headbands and pink shoelaces to show support for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s “Think Pink” initiative, which raises awareness of breast cancer on the court, across campuses and in communities.
As part of this effort:
- The first 60 fans wearing pink that arrive in Cowles Fieldhouse will get a prize.
- Donation containers will be located at each game.
- The Storm will be conducting a silent auction for two basketballs that will be autographed by the Simpson team.
- Contests for prizes donated by the Simpson College Bookstore will occur during halftime of the game.
- A portion of the gate receipts will be donated to "Think Pink."
- The Simpson Guild will be donating 50 cents for each box of popcorn that is sold.
Simpson is one of more than 900 basketball teams taking part this season. Game time is set for Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
