Simpson College athletic director John Sirianni has announced that Jim Glogowski (Glo-gow-ski), the defensive coordinator at the University of South Dakota, will be named the Storm head football coach on Friday Dec. 7. The official reception to introduce Glogowski is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Matthew Simpson Room, located on the second floor of College Hall.
"Simpson is fortunate to have Jim lead the Simpson football program,"
Sirianni said. "Jim is impressive on many levels, he brings tremendous
enthusiasm and a winning attitude and he also has a experience at both the
(NCAA) Division II and III levels. Jim understands the meaning of
student-athlete and wants these young men to excel in the classroom as well as
on the field."
In 2006, the Glogowski was in charge of a South Dakota defense that was the top
ranked run defense in the North Central Conference (NCC), and was fifth in
Division II, allowing only 73.8 yards per game. This past season, the Coyotes
were ranked second in the NCC in defense, allowing only 139.5 yards per game.
He also coached the defensive line, special teams, and served as the recruiting

Dakota rank second in the league and 25th nationally against the run (110.7
yards per game). South Dakota's defense finished second in the North Central
Conference in total defense (32nd nationally). Glogowski helped defensive back
Jordan Davis earn All-American honors during his tenure as 12 Coyotes'
defensive players earned All-Conference honors during his stint in
Vermillion.
Prior to joining the South Dakota staff, Glogowski was the defensive
coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Allegheny College (Meadville, Pa.)
from 2001-03. Glogowski was special teams coordinator and outside linebacker
coach at Clarion University (Pa.) in 2000-01. Prior to that he was special
teams coordinator and inside linebacker coach at Allegheny from 1998-2000, a
graduate assistant at Augustana College (S.D.) in 1997-98 and a student
assistant at South Dakota in 1996.
A four-year starter for the Coyotes at strong safety and linebacker, Glogowski
was named All-American in 1995 by the Don Hansen Football Gazette after a
season in which he had 91 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 5.5 quarterback sacks
and an interception. He was also voted the North Central Conference Most
Valuable Defensive Back in 1995. He earned All-Conference honors in 1995
and was honorable mention All-Conference in 1993 and 1994.
Glogowski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from South Dakota in
1997 and a Masters of Arts in health, physical education and recreation in 2005
from South Dakota. Jim and his wife Kate have three children;
