Music department launches fall season

Sept. 9, 2009

The Simpson College music department will sponsor a variety of recitals during the month of September. The recitals will feature both Simpson faculty and visiting artists. All events are free and open to the public.

Music events in September include:

  • Sept. 9 – Visiting Artists: Rika Uchida, assistant professor of music at Drake University and Kumiko Shimizu, assistant professor of music at Delta State University, will present a duo piano program. 7:30 p.m. in Lekberg Hall.
  • Sept. 13 – Faculty Recital: Kimberly Roberts, soprano. Featuring works by Barber and Santoliquido. 7 p.m. in Great Hall.
  • Sept. 18 – Faculty Recital: Jin Young Park, pianist. Featuring works by Bach, Scriabin, and Schumann. 7 p.m. in Lekberg Hall.
  • Sept. 25 – Visiting Artist:  Kevin Bobo, internationally acclaimed orchestral percussionist. 7 p.m. in Lekberg Hall.
