Theatre Simpson presents festival of short plays

April 11, 2008

Theatre Simpson will present “Festival 2008: Theatre of the Absurd” April 11 through April 13 in the Barnum Studio Theatre in the Blank Performing Arts Center.

Performances April 11 and April 12 will be at 7:30 p.m. The April 13 performance will take place at 1 p.m.

The festival of short plays presents ideas and emotions that are out of harmony with reason. These plays abandon predictable expectations, rational thought and conventional language and replace them with three people trapped in urns, a woman that has been asleep for 29 years and an attack on the artificial values of American families.

The festival includes:

  • A Kind of Alaska by Harold Pinter
  • Play by Samuel Beckett
  • Act Without Words II by Samuel Beckett
  • The Hero by Arthur Kopit
  • The American Dream by Edward Albee

Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for non-Simpson students. Reservations can be made by calling 515-961-1601 or e-mailing tsboxoffice@simpson.edu. More information is available at www.simpson.edu/theatre.
