American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) - North Central Division

Des Moines Metro Opera
One of the top regional opera companies in the world, the Des Moines Metro Opera had its beginnings on the Simpson College campus in 1973 and is in residence on the campus during the opera season. Co-founder and Artistic Director of the DMMO is Dr. Robert L. Larsen who serves on the music faculty at Simpson.

Des Moines Vocal Arts Ensemble
The Des Moines Vocal Arts Ensemble, was formed in the spring of 1992 with the vision of promoting excellent choral performance. The primary goal of this ensemble is to bring to the community a variety of serious choral musical styles within a chamber choir setting. The choir is intended to create a special opportunity for serious musicians who desire an intense and concentrated investigation of the repertoire. Timothy A. McMillin, Simpson choral director, is the director of the group.
