Mrs. Larson was the regional winner and national finalist of the Federation of Music Clubs vocal competition, winner of the Iowa Metropolitan Opera auditions, and recipient of the Frances H. Daniels Memorial Award in the Minneapolis Regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions. Mrs. Larson has been a principal performer with the Des Moines Metro Opera. Roles include Baba in The Medium, Florence in Albert Herring, Tituba and Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible, Baba the Turk in The Rake'sProgress, the Mother and the Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Dame Quickly in Falstaff, the Marquise in The Daughter of the Regiment, and as Bertha in Barber of Seville. Opera Canada said of her performance in Il Trovatore: '"outstanding...mezzo-soprano Anne Ogan Larson, who teaches on the host college's faculty, but who could handsomely project Azucena's every note in a giant sized house as well." Mrs. Larson has sung with the Des Moines Symphony, the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the Madison, Wisconsin and Tri-Cities Symphonies. She appeared as a riotous Thisbe in La Cenerentola, as the droll Martha in Faust, as Juno, Queen of the Gods, in the world premier of The Tempest, Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro, Mama McCourt in The Ballad of Baby Doe, and most recently in the 25 th anniversary season of Des Moines Metro Opera as Mrs. Herring in Albert Herring. Mrs. Larson performs often on campus and throughout the area in recital, oratorio, and opera.
