Orpheus Music Festival
Sunday - Sunday, July 12 - 19, 2009
A wonderful music festival experience for high school musicians (ages 14 - 18) including classes in music theory and history, choral ensembles and workshop training for operetta and musical theatre. Daily individual lessons in voice, piano and guitar are available. The camp is directed by Dr. Robert L. Larsen and features Simpson College voice, piano, choral and guitar faculty. The week begins with camp participants attending the final performance of the Des Moines Metro Opera season.
General Information
Deadline for application and audition tapes is May 12, 2009.
Cost: $525 for tuition, room and board and daily individual lessons.
Scholarships:
Scholarships are available by audition to cover part of the tuition. The audition is by cassette tape or CD (no video tapes, please) and should be received with the application no later than May 12, 2009.
John & Faye Abild Music Scholarship:
The National Federation of Music Clubs will annually award two $525 scholarships to students who are proficient in piano to attend the Orpheus Music Festival at Simpson. All piano students who send in an audition tape or CD and the completed Orpheus application will be considered for the Abild Music Scholarships.
