Visiting Artists: Duo Piano Recital: Rika Uchida, Assistant Professor of Music at Drake University in Iowa and Kumiko Shimizu, Assistant Professor of Music at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, will present a duo piano program featuring works by Guastavino, Francaix, Albéniz and the "Prelude a l'apres-midi d'une faune" by Debussy.

Fall Choral Festival: The 5th annual Festival for high school choirs from around the state. The day will feature events for directors, rehearsals of choral repertoire of the highest quality, and will culminate with a concert featuring the Festival Chorus and the College's Choral Ensembles. The Festival is under the direction of Timothy A. McMillin. The public is invited to the evening concert.

They will perform "Skunk Funk" by Randy Brecker, "It's Only Music" by Gary Willis, "You're the One" by Hank Crawford, and more.

The 4th Annual Simpson College Jazz Honor Band Festival: The Jazz Honor Band will consist of high school students nominated by their band director. Masterclasses in instruments and improvisation will also be offered. The evening concert will feature the College's Jazz Ensemble directed by Dave Camwell, followed by the Honor Band with special guest conductor Chad Eby. The public is invited to the concert.

The day will culminate with an evening concert featuring the High School Honor Band under a guest conductor’s baton and the College’s Symphonic Band under the direction of Michael Eckerty. Visiting Artist: Trumpeter/Cornetist Gunnery Sergeant Susan Rider, a member of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band since 1997, will present a recital. Sgt. Rider is an Iowa native and graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and Indiana University. Assisting her will be pianist Patrice Ewolt.

Simpson College Jazz Combo Camp
Directed by Dr. Dave Camwell, the Simpson College Jazz Combo camp will provide an intensive experience for those High School Students, ages 14 to 18, looking to gain skills and appreciation in jazz and improvisation. Faculty will include Dave Camwell and other talented professional jazz musicians. Students will have many opportunities to work on their craft, and be able to hear the faculty perform nightly.

The Orpheus Vocal and Instrumental Festival
A wonderful music festival experience for high school musicians including classes in music theory and history, daily individual lessons available in voice, piano, guitar, and wind and percussion instruments. The festival will also include choral ensembles and workshop training for operetta and musical theatre as well as large and small instrumental ensembles and chamber music. Directed by Dr. Robert L. Larsen and Dr. Michael Eckerty featuring Simpson College voice, piano, choral and instrumental faculty. Scholarships are available.
