Prospective students who are interested in majoring in music and those who are interested in participating in one of the ensembles are encouraged to audition for a music scholarship. Scholarships are awarded after the student has been accepted to the college and has filed the FAFSA form. You may apply for admission to Simpson College online, or by contacting the admissions department to have an application sent to you. Since there is no application fee, you are encouraged to complete the application process as soon as possible.
When are the auditions?
There are three Saturdays during the school year for scholarship auditions: November 8, 2008, February 14, 2009 and February 21, 2009.
Other auditions are scheduled on week days through-out the school year. For week day auditions, the student will need to arrive at Amy Robertson Music Center at 11:30 a.m. to fill out our information form, warm-up and run-through the audition music with the accompanist. Auditions will be over the noon hour.
Campus tours and a visit with an admissions counselor can be scheduled on the same day as your audition.
The deadline for scholarship auditions is April 1, 2009.

Music Weekends & Scholarship Auditions
Friday, Saturday - November 7 -8, 2008 (Music Weekend)
Friday, Saturday - February 20 - 21, 2009 (Music Weekend)
Music Weekends are designed to give the prospective music major a closer look at the Simpson music department by attending music classes and rehearsals as well as hearing two concerts that feature instrumental chamber ensembles, the College Choir, Women's Chorale, Madrigal Singers, Jazz Ensemble and several faculty artists. On Saturday we hear the scholarship auditions.

Can I send in a tape or CD for an audition?
We do accept tapes or CD's for music scholarship auditions, however, we always encourage the prospective student to perform a live audition. The live audition gives us a chance to meet you, talk to you and evalaulte your talent. An in-person audition also gives you a chance to meet the music faculty, tour the facility and campus and ask questions about the department.
If you live out of state and have either already visited the campus or can not visit before the scholarship deadline, then a recorded audition would be fine. We prefer CD's or tapes. No video tapes, please. See the audition requirements for what to put on the CD or tape.
Mail your CD or tape to:
