The marketing and public relations office is the in-house agency for the creation of college marketing and communications projects, such as publications, advertisements and videos intended for an external audience. The staff is prepared to assist various departments with planning, copy writing, photography, graphic design and oversight of communication project production.
The Project Request form is designed to serve as your planning
resource. It is our intention to help you in any way we can to produce
materials that are professional and attractive. While past policies addressed only printed materials, this process also
includes electronic projects, such as radio and
TV advertising, videos, CD-ROMs and multi-media presentations.
At the forefront of this effort is the marketing and public relations
department, located on the third floor of Hillman Hall (extension 1606). The
department coordinates the marketing communication process at Simpson and
remains available to help members of the Simpson College community achieve
quality in their publications, advertising and external communications
projects.
External and Internal Communications Projects
External communication projects are those paid for with college funds and are
to be viewed by an external public. The public relations department must be
involved in the production process and must approve the project’s content and
design before dissemination. These projects can include, but are not limited
to, print (brochures, newsletters, magazines, posters, booklets, flyers, direct
mail pieces, flags and banners, etc.), radio, TV and web advertising; on-campus
signage; videos; CD-ROMs; slide shows, billboards and multi-media
presentations. (This does not include personal correspondence.)
Internal communication projects are those intended to be seen only by the
Simpson campus community, including students, faculty and staff. These projects
may be produced without the oversight of the public relations department. The
campus copy center will be able to meet most internal printing needs, including
copying, folding, collating, stapling and trimming publications. The copy
center manager is trained to assist campus clients with basic graphic design
needs. The materials will be reproduced on a digital one-color copying
system.
