Simpson College will host Elevate’s Desire to Inspire conference at 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 in Great Hall. Following the conference will be a concert at 6:30 p.m. featuring Rusty Johnson, also held at Great Hall.
Desire to Inspire is an opportunity for foster and adopted young people to come together through different workshops and sessions. Foster parents and other interested individuals can also attend informational sessions about fostering teens. Elevate is a group of young people who inspire others about the importance and understanding of foster care.
Through stories and workshops, these teens promote learning, growing and connecting with others as a foster teen. Workshops for teens held at the conference include topics such as conquering anger, making a family fit, and preparing for the future. Johnson, who is a foster child, is an accomplished jazz musician who traveled the world and performed with numerous Grammy winners. The concert is free with a donation to Elevate.
