Carnal, bloody and unnatural acts will shake the stage for Theatre Simpson’s production of Hamlet at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 and 19 and 1 p.m. on Nov. 20 in Pote Theater of the Blank Performing Arts Center on the Simpson College campus in Indianola.
Directed by Jennifer Ross Nostrala, professor of theater arts and head of the division of visual and performing arts, the production brings to life William Shakespeare’s most popular play. Featuring the fight choreography of Chicago combat director Brian LeTraunik, it is an intense exploration of the human experience and a tale that takes the theater-goer into the depths of a disturbing and corrupt world — a world of spies and manipulations, where the truth is hidden in the shadows. Who and what can be trusted? In the midst of such a world, Hamlet and others struggle to make sense of what it means to truly be human.
Tickets for the performances of Hamlet are available beginning Nov. 7 for $8 for adults or $7 for non-Simpson students at the Theatre Simpson box office. To reserve tickets or for more information, contact the box office at (515) 961-1601 or e-mail tsboxoffice@simpson.edu.
This production is held in conjunction with the ninth annual High School Theater Festival on Nov. 21 on the Simpson College campus in Indianola. For more information, visit the Theatre Simpson Web site at www.simpson.edu/theatre.
