Lecturer is former dean of Perkins School of Theology
The 26th annual Matthew Simpson Lecture with Cary Maguire University professor of ethics Robin Lovin will be at 7 p.m. March 30 in Smith Chapel.
A former dean of the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, Lovin will deliver a lecture titled “Christian Realism and the New Realities.” He will share his views on the development of Christian social ethics through the middle years of the 20th century and the new challenges posed by the exceedingly different situation our society is in today.
Lovin has written extensively on religion, law and comparative ethics, including “Christian Faith and Public Choices: The Social Ethics of Barth, Brunner and Bonhoeffer,” “Reinhold Niebuhr and Christian Realisim” and his latest book, “Christian Ethics: An Essential Guide.”
