'Housing Project' at Simpson

On Monday, April 4 and Thursday, April 7, Simpson College will host “The Housing Project,” two seminars designed to prepare metro-area residents for the process of renting or buying a home and maintaining good credit.

The first seminar, on Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m. will be held in McNeill Hall’s Pioneer Conference Room. Kim Kellar, a realtor with Iowa Realty, will discuss what to do and what to avoid when finding a first home. Mark Smart, vice president of Smart Management, will discuss the process of searching for an apartment and working with a landlord.

The seminar on Thursday, April 7 will be held at 7 p.m. in the Carver Science Center’s Jordan Lecture Hall. Tom Coates, CEO of Consumer Credit of Des Moines, will discuss the history of credit, the importance of checking credit, and maintaining good credit in the future.

Both seminars are free and open to the public. Seminars will be followed by a reception with refreshments in which participants can meet the speakers and ask questions.
