Carnegie Hall performers to perform at Simpson Jan. 12

Classical saxophonist James Bunte will perform with pianist David Riley during a Visiting Artists recital at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12 at Simpson College in Indianola.

The duo will bring to the stage a wealth of musical experience. Bunte is an assistant professor of saxophone and jazz at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music whose jazz credits include a tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, performances with Ray Charles and Tommy Dorsey, and recordings with Manhattan Transfer. He has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops, and is set to make his Carnegie Hall debut next month with Riley.

Riley, assistant professor and director of accompanying and chamber music with the University of Oregon, has been featured on dozens of radio broadcasts throughout the country, including National Public Radio Performance Today and CBC National Radio. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and with the New York Philharmonic Chamber Players.
