Co-founder of Voices for Creative Nonviolence makes return to Simpson
Kathy Kelly, co-founder of Voices for Creative Nonviolence and Voices in the Wilderness, will present “Putting an End to War” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in Lekberg Hall.
Kelly helped initiate Voices in the Wilderness, a campaign to end the UN/US sanctions against Iraq. Her efforts to bring medicine and toys to the people of Iraq, against UN/US sanctions, have led to fines and threats of prison, but she continues to fight for her cause.
In addition to her Simpson College visit, Kelly will read from her recent book “Other Lands Have Dreams: From Baghdad to Pekin Prison” at noon on Feb. 16 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in downtown Des Moines.
The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is held in Lekberg Hall in the Amy Robertson Music Center. For more information, phone (515) 961-1600.
