The Simpson College Early Music Ensemble will perform a diverse selection of French, English and Italian compositions at a program under the direction of John Benoit at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27 at Smith Chapel.

The ensemble performs music composed prior to 1700 using instruments and performance practices used during the time of composition. This program features French music from the late medieval to early Renaissance periods, and 16th through 17th century Italian and English music using many archaic instruments, such as recorders, the lute and the harpsichord.
