Minnesota Supreme Court Justice to deliver Carver lecture

Alan Page, the first black justice to the Minnesota Supreme Court, will deliver the 2006 George Washington Carver Lecture at 7 p.m. on Feb. 20 in Smith Chapel.

In the 1970s Page was a defensive lineman for the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears, and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Thinking about life after football, Page attended law school while in the NFL, and after retiring from the game in 1981, he went to work for a law firm in Minnesota. In 1987 he was appointed as assistant attorney general and associate justice in 1993. Page has also established a foundation to provide college tuition for underprivileged students in Minnesota.

The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, phone (515) 961-1600.
