Simpson College will host the third annual Midwest Undergraduate Mathematics Symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 1 in the Carver Science Center.
Designed to promote independent undergraduate study in the mathematics sciences, the symposium is open to all Iowa undergraduate students and faculty in mathematics and related fields. The symposium will include a variety of topics, including secret codes in the bible, modeling sperm competition, modeling fashion industry, planning irrigation systems and optimizing airport resources. In addition, representatives from the biostatistics and mathematics programs at the University of Iowa and the bioinformatics program at Iowa State University will be on hand.
