Sheri Michaels is the Director of Publication Services at Simpson College. She is involved with the design, production and delivery of printed publications for the college. She has continuing contact with campus departments, writers and vendors regarding design needs, budgets, schedules, quality control and the marketing of Simpson College's brand and identity.
Michaels returned to work at Simpson in 2004 after a 14 year absence. While away she worked as the Publications Design Supervisor for the Iowa State Education Association in Des Moines and while there designed publications for ISEA, the Salisbury House Foundation, New Iowa Schools Development Corporation and the ISEA Credit Union.
Her work has been exhibited in the Yamanashi Arts Festival Exhibition in Japan, at the Margaret Sloss Women's Center in Ames, Iowa, the Iowa State Fair Photography Exhibition, the Iowa College Salon, Simpson College Women's Week Exhibition and in the FOCUS Art Exhibition at Iowa State University.
Other work has appeared in print in the Simpson College Sequel literary and fine arts magazine and in Sketch, Iowa State University's literary and fine arts magazine.
She has won numerous awards for her work including awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the National Education Association Public Relations Council of the States, the Advertising Professionals of Des Moines (ADDY), the Art Directors Association of Iowa (ADAI) and the Iowa School Public Relations Association.
Michaels is a graduate of Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design. When away from her Mac she enjoys traveling, making encaustic collage art, hiking and canoeing.
