Danette Griffith is Senior Writer for Marketing and Public Relations. As such, she plans, writes and edits content that helps the college meet its strategic enrollment and fund-raising goals. She helps to develop the college's messages and ensures they are integrated into all the college's communication vehicles.
Prior to her time at Simpson, she was director of communications for the Minneapolis Area Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She managed all internal and external communications for the ELCA's largest synod. Prior to that, she was director of communications at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, Prior Lake, Minnesota, a 4,000-member suburban church, for seven years. Previous to that, she served for 10 1/2 years at Concordia University, St. Paul, Minnesota, in the College Relations Department where she launched a formal news bureau department, developed relationships with area media and served on the marketing committee. She has designed and produced all print materials and publicity for four capital fund appeals. Griffith has been published in The Lutheran, Sunday Monday Woman, The Metro Lutheran, The Lutheran Witness, Lutheran Women Today, and The Concordia Magazine.
Her volunteer activities have included serving on three Referendum Citizen's committees for School District 719, various church activities, tutoring in adult literacy and English as a second language programs.
Griffith graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris with a BA in German. She is married to Steve Griffith, Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs at Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa. They are always planning their next vacation and would love to retire in Ravello, Italy.
