Alumni Workshops

The Lilly Initiative has developed and now offers workshops for Simpson College alumni.  The workshops are for alumni interested in reflecting upon the meaning of John Wesley's charge to "do the good" in their own personal lives.

The Lilly Initiative also supports alumni events held on campus.  In the fall of 2004, Lilly helped sponsor INTERSECTIONS, a program held by the Theatre Department in which theatre alumni were brought to campus for the weekend.  The alumni shared with current students how theatre has influenced their lives.

In May 2005, the Lilly Initiative Call of Service May Term class traveled to Denver Colorado to perform service to inner city Denver.  While there Simpson students were joined by Simpson Alumni for a joint day of service.  These student were then invited to an Alumni gathering that evening.  A repeat event is planned for May 2006.

In June 2005, Dr. Jan Everhart, program director for the Lilly Initiative presented Let your Life Speak:  Discovering or Rediscovering Your Passion at Alumni Weekend June 23-25.  In keeping with the focus of Simpson's Lilly Initiative for Vocational Exploration, this class will help participants to identify personal gifts and how they connect with the world's needs.  Joy comes from following your vocation!  Each participant will receive a copy of the Lilly Initiative's Alumni vocational reflection book.
