Dunn Library

Interlibrary Loan

If Dunn Library does not own a book or journal article you want, students, faculty, and staff may be able to obtain it through interlibrary loan (ILL).

Interlibrary loan request forms are available through the Online ILL Request .

Users may also submit ill requests via email (interlibraryloan@simpson.edu), phone (515.961.1485), or paper form available at research assistance desk.

Many Dunn Library databases feature direct article ILL link, ex: EBSCOhost and WorldCat.

For databases without a direct ILL link, use the database email function, either directly to us, or to yourself, first, then to us at interlibraryloan@simpson.edu.  You'll always get a receipt of acknowledgment from the ILL department if your order was successful.

There is usually no charge for books or articles ordered through interlibrary loan.

It can take anywhere from one day to two weeks for the material to arrive. Usually, journal articles arrive more quickly (3 to 5 days) than books (7 to 14 days).

You will be notified when your item arrives. Books should be picked up at the library. Articles will be emailed to your email account. Photocopies of articles can be sent to your campus mailbox or may be picked up at the front desk.

ILL books must be returned on time. Abusers will be fined and denied ILL privileges in the future.

OPEN ACCESS
Students, faculty, and staff are able to check out items directly from other Iowa libraries that participate in the Open Access program. Materials can be checked out using a Simpson ID and may be returned to that library or to Dunn Library. A list of participating Open Access Iowa libraries is available.
