LIBRARY DATABASES

  • LIBRARY CATALOG - To search for books on a particular topic, use a Subject or a Keyword Search. To search for books at other libraries use the links on the BOOKS & BOOK REVIEWS web page.
  • ACCESS Science - Searchable content from McGraw-Hill's Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, 10th Edition.
  • EBSCOHOST - Search multiple databases (together or separately) to access full-text periodicals, newspapers and reference tools. Academic Search Premier and Business Search Premier index peer-reviewed scholarly journals in a variety of subject areas. Other databases focus on specific areas such as health and education.
  • LexisNexis ACADEMIC - Comprehensive research database providing full-text access to various databases, including current news, business information, Hoover’s company records, company directories, federal and state laws, legal cases, medical and references.
  • CAMPUS RESEARCH - Comprehensive research database includes full-text information and access to both current and archived materials, including thousands of news databases and newswires as well as business, trade and professional journals and publications; superior law-related resources.
  • COUNTRYWATCH - Provides critical country-specific intelligence and data, including up-to-date news and information on the recognized countries of the world.
  • ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA ONLINE - More than 72,000 encyclopedia articles on all subjects.

  • America's Top-rated Cities : A Statistical Handbook (307.76 A512 2000) - Statistical tables and information about major cities with summary texts on social and economic subjects. Divided into four geographical regions.
  • Statistical Abstract of the U.S. (317.3 U58s) - Compendium of statistical tables on all subjects. An online version of the Statistical Abstract is available.
  • Statistical Portrait of the U.S. (317.3 S797) - Statistical tables with summary texts on social and economic subjects.
  • 2002 City & County Extra (317.3 C855) - Statistics on a variety of social and economic topics.
  • World Almanac (317 W92) - Revised annually, with data on all subjects. Earlier editions are shelved in the general collection. The current edition is also available online as noted above.
  • NYPL Desk References (031 N532) - Useful for quick data look-ups, from the New York Public Library.
  • Famous First Facts (031 K16f) - Miscellaneous firsts, arranged by topic.

  • CURRENT CPI DATA - Most recent monthly consumer price information, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • CURRENT ECONOMIC STATISTICS - Links collected at the White House.
