  • LIBRARY CATALOG - To search for books on a particular topic, use a Subject or a Keyword Search. To search for books at other libraries use the links on the BOOKS & BOOK REVIEWS web page.
  • AMERICAN PHYSIOLOGICAL SOCIETY LEGACY JOURNALS - Backfiles of the journals of the American Physiological Society.   Content goes back to the first issue of each of the APS journals. (APS)  These include American Journal of Physiology (1898-1997) and Journal of Applied Physiology (1948-1996). 
  • EBSCOHOST - Search multiple databases (together or separately) to access full-text periodicals, newspapers and reference tools. Academic Search Premier and Business Search Premier index peer-reviewed scholarly journals in a variety of subject areas. Other databases such as Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition and Health Source - Consumer Edition focus on specific areas such as health, physical therapy, and biometrics.
  • MEDLINE - To search for articles on use physical education and athletic training use MEDLINE from FirstSearch. Includes thousands of citation records with substantial abstracts.
  • CAMPUS RESEARCH - Comprehensive research database includes full-text information and access to both current and archived materials, including thousands of news databases and newswires as well as business, trade and professional journals and publications; superior law-related resources.
  • ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA ONLINE - More than 72,000 encyclopedia articles on all subjects.

  • Encyclopedia of Sports Science (613.7 E56) - A 2 vol. set with articles on the scientific bases of sports performance.
  • Encyclopedia of Women and Sports (796.082 S55e) - Biographies of famous women in sports.
  • Encyclopedia of World Sport (796.03 E56) - A 3-vol. set with information and historical background on many sports.

  • PUBMED - Public access to MEDLINE citations from the mid 1960's. Available from the government.
  • JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION - Online access to JAMA. Abstracts only.
  • ALTIS - The guide to Internet resources in hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism. Mainly information for the UK, but valuable links.
  • AMATEUR ATHLETIC FOUNDATION - Large collection of research articles related to sports and athletics.
  • NISR - The National Institute for Sports Reform focuses on the psychology of team sports.
  • NORTH AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR SPORT HISTORY - promote, stimulate, and encourage study and research and writing of the history of sport; to support and cooperate with local, national, and international organizations having the same purposes.
  • SIRC - Data on many sports, from Sports Information Resource Centre in Canada.
  • SPORTING NEWS ARCHIVE - Features and articles from past issues of the paper.

  • DISABLED SPORTS USA - established in 1967 by disabled Vietnam veterans to serve the war injured. DS/USA now offers nationwide sports rehabilitation programs to anyone with a permanent disability.
  • GENDER EQUITY IN SPORTS - Project researching Title IX, from University of Iowa.
  • WOMEN'S SPORTS FOUNDATION - Organization dedicated to ensuring equal access to participation and leadership opportunities for all girls and women in sports and fitness.
  • FEDERATION OF GAY GAMES - Data on the Gay Games, held every four years. Includes news stories, statistics, and history.
