LIBRARY DATABASES
- LIBRARY CATALOG - To search for books on a particular topic, use a Subject or a Keyword Search. To search for books at other libraries use the links on the BOOKS & BOOK REVIEWS web page.
- AMERICA: HISTORY & LIFE - Index of literature covering the history and culture of the United States and Canada, from prehistory to the present. The database indexes journals from 1964 to present and includes citations and links to book and media reviews.
- EBSCOHOST - Search multiple databases (together or separately) to access full-text periodicals, newspapers and reference tools. Academic Search Premier and Business Search Premier index peer-reviewed scholarly journals in a variety of subject areas. Other databases focus on specific areas such as health and education.
- JSTOR - Arts & Sciences I, II & III Collections include the complete back runs of 394 core journals in many disciplines, including economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. Includes a selection of titles in the fields of archaeology, arts, classics, cultural studies, ecology, literature, mathematics, and statistics.
- NEW YORK TIMES HISTORICAL - Online collection of The New York Times newspaper from 1851-2006.
- Project MUSE - Project MUSE - Basic College Collection is a unique collaboration providing full-text, user-friendly online access to 192 humanities, arts, and social sciences journals.
- LexisNexis ACADEMIC - Comprehensive research database providing full-text access to various databases, including current news, business information, Hoover’s company records, company directories, federal and state laws, legal cases, medical and references.
- ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA ONLINE - More than 72,000 encyclopedia articles on all subjects.
- HISTORY COOPERATIVE - Online collection of full-text journals covering different areas of American and North American history. Contains full text of JAH, AHR and the William and Mary Quarterly. On campus access only.
- ARTstor - Digital library with over 400,000 images covering art, architecture and archeology with descriptive information as well as software tools to support research uses. Initial acquisition and first year access provided by a gift from Leroy and Mary Joyce [Baker] Pickett, class of 1962.

- Encyclopedia of American Facts & Dates (R973 C31e 1997) - Chronological arrangement of events from different fields.
- Encyclopedia of American History (973 E56 2003 ) - An 11-vol. set of brief articles related to American history, focusing on time periods/themes.
- American chronicle : year by year through the twentieth century (R973.9 G66a 1999) - Brief annual chronicles of all facets of American life.

- Chronology of European History (940.02 C557) - A 3-vol. set with brief summaries of important events and suggested readings.
- Civilization of the Ancient Mediterranean (938 C582) - A 2-vol. set with longer topical articles.
- Encyclopedia of the Renaissance (940.2 E56 1999) - A 6-vol. set covering topics from European history in the Renaissance period.
- World Almanac (317 W92) - Begins with brief summaries of the year's top news stories. Current issue shelves in reference; older issues are shelved in the general collection.
