  • FACULTY DEVELOPMENT COLLECTION - Collection of materials acquired by the Academic Dean’s office related to faculty development. Located behind the circulation counter; available for checkout.
  • LIBRARY CATALOG - To search for books on a particular topic, use a Subject or a Keyword Search. To search for books at other libraries use the links on the BOOKS & BOOK REVIEWS web page.

  • CHRONICLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION - e-mail Ask a Librarian to get user name and password. Also available in paper at Dunn Library.
  • EFFECTIVE PRACTICES FOR ACADEMIC LEADERS - Monthly briefings that assist leaders by offering informed advice and practical guidance in a concise format for ready application in administrative life.
  • INSIDE HIGHER ED - Online source for news, opinion and jobs for all of higher education.
  • INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP OF TEACHING & LEARNING - An open, peer-reviewed, international electronic journal for articles, essays, and discussions about the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and its applications in higher/tertiary education today.
  • MountainRise - Open, peer-reviewed, international electronic journal published twice a year by the Coulter Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning at Western Carolina University for the purpose of being an international vehicle for the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL).
  • The National Teaching & Learning Forum - Topics embrace a wide diversity of cross-disciplinary concerns.  Password protected on the portal.

DATABASES FOR PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER (EBSCOhost) & TEACHING REFERENCE CENTER (EBSCOhost) - Search these databases together. The Professional Development Center is designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of 520 high quality education journals, including nearly 350 peer-reviewed titles. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports. Professional Development Collection is the most comprehensive collection of full text education journals in the world. The Teaching Reference Center provides indexing and abstracts for more than 270 of the most popular teacher and administrator journals and magazines to assist professional educators.
  • PERL: POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION RESOURCE LIBRARY - Midwestern Higher Education Compact is charged with promoting interstate cooperation and resource sharing in higher education accomplishing this through three core functions: cost savings programs, student access and policy research. PERL contains links to quality policy reports and scholarly articles searchable by issue, sector, and institutional type.

  • WILEY INTERSCIENCE--EDUCATION - Journal index and full-text articles related to education.
  • ERIC - To search for articles on education, use the database ERIC (for all education topics).
  • ERIC DOCUMENTS IN THE LIBRARY - A limited number of ERIC documents not available online are located in the microform cabinets.
  • EBSCOHOST - Search multiple databases (together or separately) to access full-text periodicals, newspapers and reference tools. Academic Search Premier and Business Search Premier index peer-reviewed scholarly journals in a variety of subject areas. Other databases focus on specific areas such as health and education.
  • JSTOR - Arts & Sciences I, II & III Collections include the complete back runs of 394 core journals in many disciplines, including economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences.  Includes a selection of titles in the fields of archaeology, arts, classics, cultural studies, ecology, literature, mathematics, and statistics.
  • Project MUSE - Project MUSE - Basic College Collection is a unique collaboration providing full-text, user-friendly online access to 192 humanities, arts, and social sciences journals.
  • LexisNexis ACADEMIC - Comprehensive research database providing full-text access to various databases, including current news, business information, Hoover’s company records, company directories, federal and state laws, legal cases, medical and references.
