LIBRARY DATABASES

  • LIBRARY CATALOG - To search for books on a particular topic, use a Subject or a Keyword Search. To search for books at other libraries use the links on the BOOKS & BOOK REVIEWS web page.
  • ERIC - To search for articles on education, use the database ERIC (for all education topics).
  • ERIC DOCUMENTS IN THE LIBRARY - A limited number of ERIC documents not available online are located in the microform cabinets.
  • EBSCOHOST - Search multiple databases (together or separately) to access full-text periodicals, newspapers and reference tools. Academic Search Premier and Business Search Premier index peer-reviewed scholarly journals in a variety of subject areas. Other databases focus on specific areas such as health and education.
  • EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES from EBSCOhost- Search Academic Search Premier; ERIC; MasterFILE Premier; Professional Development Collection.
  • EBSCOHOST Kids Search, Searchasarus, and Student Research Center - Versions of EBSCOhost designed for students K-12. Can access Middle Search Plus and Primary Search, in addition to age-specific encyclopedias and dictionaries.  Teacher resources available.
  • TEACHER RESOURCE CENTER- Popular teacher and administrator journals and magazines to assist professional educators.
  • EFFECTIVE PRACTICES FOR ACADEMIC LEADERS - Monthly briefings that assist leaders by offering informed advice and practical guidance in a concise format for ready application in administrative life.
  • JSTOR - Arts & Sciences I, II & III Collections include the complete back runs of 394 core journals in many disciplines, including economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences.  Includes a selection of titles in the fields of archaeology, arts, classics, cultural studies, ecology, literature, mathematics, and statistics.
  • Project MUSE - Project MUSE - Basic College Collection is a unique collaboration providing full-text, user-friendly online access to 116 humanities, arts, and social sciences journals.
  • LexisNexis ACADEMIC - Comprehensive research database providing full-text access to various databases, including current news, business information, Hoover’s company records, company directories, federal and state laws, legal cases, medical and references.
  • CAMPUS RESEARCH - Comprehensive research database includes full-text information and access to both current and archived materials, including thousands of news databases and newswires as well as business, trade and professional journals and publications; superior law-related resources.
  • WILEY INTERSCIENCE--EDUCATION - Journal index and full-text articles related to education.
  • ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA ONLINE - More than 72,000 encyclopedia articles on all subjects.

  • Barron's Profiles of American Colleges (via netLibrary) - A 1-vol. handbook with brief profiles of 1650 schools.
  • College Blue Book (378.73 C69) - A 5-vol. set with comprehensive narrative and statistical data on American 2-year and 4-year colleges.
  • Early Childhood Education (372.21 E12p) - Annual editions of convenient, inexpensive access to current articles selected from the best of the public press.  Located in the General Collection.
  • Encyclopedia of Education Research (370.78 E565) - A recent 4-vol. encyclopedia with brief articles and references.
  • Encyclopedia of Education (370.3 E564 2003) - An 8-vol. set of a variety of educational topics.
  • Encyclopedia of American Education (370.973 U57e 2001) - A 3-vol. set with very brief entries on a variety of topics.
  • Peterson's Guides (378.155 P4852) - A comprehensive 6-vol. set with information on graduate programs in all areas of study.
  • World Education Encyclopedia: A Survey of Educational Systems Worldwide (370.3 W927 2002) - Detailed descriptions of education in different countries.

  • CHARACTER EDUCATION - From the Center for the Advancement of Ethics and Character, this site contains resources for helping teachers, administrators, and parents build good character in today's students and tomorrow's leaders.   • ETS TESTS DATABASE - Educational Testing Service's collection of 20,000 tests and other measurement devices from a variety of publishers and authors.

  • LITERACY WEB - Designed to promote the use of the Internet as a tool to assist classroom teachers in their search for best practices in literacy instruction.
  • MARCO-POLO: INTERNET FOR THE CLASSROOM - From a consortium of education organizations, this site contains teacher resources, professional development, and state information. Free registration is required for some material.

  • NATIONAL COUNCIL OF TEACHERS OF MATHEMATICS - resouces for mathematics educators.  Includes lesson plans.
  • PBS TEACHERS : RESOURCES FOR THE CLASSROOM - web destination for high-quality preK-12 educational resources. Classroom materials suitable for a wide range of subjects and grade levels, thousands of lesson plans, teaching activities, on-demand video assets, and interactive games and simulations.
