• LIBRARY CATALOG - To search for books on a particular topic, use a Subject or a Keyword Search. To search for books at other libraries use the links on the BOOKS & BOOK REVIEWS web page.
• AMERICAN PHYSIOLOGICAL SOCIETY LEGACY JOURNALS - Backfiles of the journals of the American Physiological Society.   Content goes back to the first issue of each of the APS journals. These include American Journal of Physiology (1898-1997) and Journal of Applied Physiology (1948-1996). 
• BioOne.1 - A collection of bioscience research journals. Full-text access is available as well as abstracts.
• EBSCOHOST - Search multiple databases (together or separately) to access full-text periodicals, newspapers and reference tools. Academic Search Premier and Business Search Premier index peer-reviewed scholarly journals in a variety of subject areas. Other databases focus on specific areas such as health and education.
• JSTOR - Arts & Sciences I, II & III Collections include the complete back runs of 394 core journals in many disciplines, including economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences.  Includes a selection of titles in the fields of archaeology, arts, classics, cultural studies, ecology, literature, mathematics, and statistics.
• MEDLINE - To search for articles on biology use MEDLINE. Include thousands of citation records with substantial abstracts.
• CAMPUS RESEARCH - Comprehensive research database includes full-text information and access to both current and archived materials, including thousands of news databases and newswires as well as business, trade and professional journals and publications; superior law-related resources.  
• WILEY INTERSCIENCE--LIFE SCIENCES - Journal index and full-text articles related to biology and life science.
• ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA ONLINE - More than 72,000 encyclopedia articles on all subjects.

• Dictionary of Microbiology and Molecular Biology (579 S61d) - Scientific definitions related to microbiology and molecular biology.
• Encyclopedia of Science & Technology (503 M147 2002) - A comprehensive 20-volume encyclopedia on scientific topics. Located by the Encyclopedias.
• Encyclopedia of Human Biology (574 E56) - A 9-vol. set on all aspects of human biology.
• Encyclopedia of Life Sciences (570.3 E56 2002) - A 20-vol. set that focuses on a wide variety.

• ASM JOURNALS - The American Society for Microbiology 11 journals cover the spectrum of microbiology, from molecular and cellular biology to biomedical research and technology.
• BIOMED CENTRAL - Publishes and provides access to peer-reviewed biological and medical research.
• DIRECTORY OF OPEN ACCESS JOURNALS (DOAJ) - Provides free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. It aims to cover all subjects and languages.
• HIGHWIRE PRESS - Free online full-text science articles.
• PLoS - Biology and health and medical pages.  The Public Library of Science (PLoS) is a nonprofit scientific and medical publishing venture that provides scientists and physicians with high-quality, high-profile journals in which to publish their most important work, while making the full contents freely available for anyone to read, distribute, or use for their own research.
• JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION - Online access to JAMA. Abstracts only.
• OPEN SCIENCE DIRECTORY - An ongoing program to create a global search tool for all open access and special programs journal titles. Supported by EBSCOhost, a large collection of e-journals is now available for researchers.
• PUBMED - Public access to MEDLINE citations from the mid 1960's. Available from the government.
• PUBMED CENTRAL - Digital archive of life sciences literature. Contains a limited number of journals.
• SCIRUS - Comprehensive science-specific search engine, searching not only websites but full-text articles and abstracts from Medline, ScienceDirect, and BioMed Central. 

• THE CONDOR - An international journal of avian biology. Contains citations and some full-text articles (use the full-text search box) in .pdf format.
• INSECTS AND ENTOMOLOGY - From Iowa State, directory and search engine of insect-related resources on the Internet.
• PRIMATE INFO NET (PIN) - General online resource for links and original content about nonhuman primates. Check out the Great Ape Trust of Iowa, a world-class research center dedicated to providing sanctuary and an honorable life for great apes, studying the intelligence of great apes, advancing conservation of great apes and providing unique educational experiences about great apes.

• BioED ONLINE - Baylor College of Medicine, an excellent resource focusing on biology and related life-science topics.
• BIOLOGY BROWSER - produced by Thomson Scientific, is a web site offering resources for the life sciences information community.
• MEDHIST - "Evaluated, quality Internet resources" regarding the history of medicine and medical knowledge.
• UNDERSTANDING EVOLUTION - Non-commercial, education website, teaching the science and history of evolutionary biology.
• UPENN CENTER FOR BIOETHICS - The Center for Bioethics is a leader in bioethics research and its deployment in the ethical, efficient, and compassionate practice of the life sciences and medicine.
