On a Windows computer double click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. You should see a window similar to the one below with an H: drive listed under the Network Drives section.
Your H: drive should look similar to the one circled in red. If you double click on that icon you will open your personal space on the Simpson College network. Each faculty member receives 2GB of available storage space. We recommend you store only essential files that you need for your course work. Check out the FAQ section at the bottom of this page. To copy files from your "My Documents" folder to your network folder first open your My Documents folder.
Next open your network folder which is the H: drive.
Now you can start dragging files you want to copy from your "My Documents" folder into your network folder by simply dragging them from the "My Documents" window into the "storage\netfolder" window.
FAQ
Q: Will the files I place in my H: drive get backed up?
A: Yes, these files will get backed up nightly.
Q: Should I open my PowerPoint presentations saved on my H: drive?
A: We recommend for performace reasons you only save them on your H: drive and then copy them to your local hard drive whenever you want to use them.
Q: Can I get more than 2GB of space if I fill that up?
A: We will look at that on a case by case basis.
Q: Will I have access to my H: drive off campus?
A: No, you need to be on a computer that is physically connected to the Simpson College network.
