Recommendation - how can we open up communication or notify employees/staff on press releases?
- Example: the Hubbell gift was in the newspaper, but not announced to the Simpson community.
Issue: The college 15 passenger vans are a safety issue.
- Seat belts don't work or are missing.
- Roll-over factor.
Rich reported on the insurance review committee. There will not be a large increase this year for employees.

EAC Meeting
January 24, 2008
The EAC members for the 2008 year met at January 24 @ 3:15 p.m. Al Appenzeller was elected as the chair of this committee with Bev Hickman as secretary. It was unanimously decide to publish a summary of each meeting on the EAC web page, which is accessed on the HR webpage under Special Programs.
The outgoing members gave a brief synopsis of prior discussions. These included:
- A campus-wide employee satisfaction survey. We need to emphasize confidentiality for anyone completing this survey. Results of this will be sent to the president then to the cabinet. It was questioned as to why we need to have approval from cabinet before this is sent to employees. We have valid questions and want all feedback.
- The possibility of an ombudsman for staff to be able to talk to with concerns/issues.
- The possibility of representation at cabinet meetings.
- EAC needs to have empowerment and a level of trust. We need to function as a community and instill pride back to Simpson College.
It was discussed to make progress on these items over the next year. We want the campus to understand we represent everyone on campus. The EAC committee members for the 2008 year are:
Allan Appenzeller
Bev Hickman
Judy Hutton
Rich Ramos
Lynette Anderson
