Part-time Administrative Assistant - Education Department

The Department of Education has an opening for a part-time administrative assistant to help with student and program data collection, management, and reporting. This position will work 20 per week and report to the Chair of the Education department.

General duties will include assisting the Education Department Chair in organizing and managing multiple aspects of the program including GPA monitoring, conducting audits for various Levels/Gateways, submitting licensure recommendations electronically, creating charts and graphs, sending out graduate and employer surveys; as well as preparing the Iowa Department of Education Annual report. General administrative duties will include maintaining student files on various computer systems, typing correspondence and general bookkeeping.     

The qualified candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree or have a minimum of four years experience as an administrative assistant in a fast pace, detailed work environment; be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook; as well as have a desire to learn and use specialized computer software systems.
Candidates should have outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to write, edit, and proof professional level materials and speak to various agencies, student and schools; have proven time management skills in order to meet deadlines; and have the ability to keep information confidential.
