Simpson College, a private, nationally-recognized regional college grounded in the liberal arts tradition and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice to begin September 2010. This is a one-year position, with possibility of renewal for up to three years.
Ph.D. or ABD in the sociology of deviant behavior, criminology, criminal justice or a related field is preferred. ABD applicants must complete their degree work by summer 2010. Responsibilities include teaching in both the undergraduate and newly-created Master of Arts programs and participation in the general education programs of the College. Preference will be given to applicants who can teach both the Justice System Statistics and the Seminar in Justice System Decision Making and Policy Implementation courses in the M.A. program. Preference will be given to those with work experience in the criminal justice field. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Review of applications will begin in February 2010.
