Simpson College, a private, nationally recognized regional college grounded in the liberal arts tradition and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Analytical Chemistry. A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field is required. The department has a growing major in Forensic Biochemistry so an in interest in forensic applications would be welcomed. The successful applicant will teach lectures and labs in analytical chemistry, contribute to the teaching of general chemistry and other courses depending on interest, including courses in the college’s general education program. Mentoring students in undergraduate research projects is expected. The department is located in a division which is especially interdisciplinary with active programs in mathematics, biology, physics and computer science with many student projects crossing departmental boundaries. Most graduates in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Forensics go on to graduate study. The department has the usual equipment needed for its teaching and research activities and expects its faculty to participate in grant writing to expand and upgrade its laboratory instrument holdings.

Candidates for the position must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and willingness to engage students in scholarship, research, and/ or creative work.
